Sognefjellet Summer Ski Centre
Welcome to the Sognefjellet Summer Ski Centre
Our tracks are situated along Road 5 in the area close to the Sognefjellet Mountain Lodge, the Fanaråken Glacier and the lake Prestesteinsvatnet on the top of the highest mountain pass in Northern Europe, 1400 meters above sea level. We may offer beautiful and spectacular nature and great conditions for physical activity in our well prepped ski tracks. For many seasons the best national and international cross country skiers and biathletes have visited us to use our outdoor facilities. The summer ski center is open for everyone, professionals and non-professionals, persons and groups.
We offer approx. 8 kilometres of tracks, suitable for both the classical style and skate skiing. There is also a shooting area for biathlon. Usually, the season lasts from May to August.
The Sognefjellet Summer Ski Centre was initiated in 1972 with the grooming of ski tracks on the Fanaråken Glacier. In 1990 the tracks were moved to the area close to the Sognefjellet Mountain Lodge because of new equipment. Presently, we have two trail groomers and a snowmobile with a salt distributor. The summer ski center has high competence in the salting of tracks and has developed its own salt distributor for snowmobiles. Thus, we can offer well prepared tracks throughout the season, in addition to courses in how to salt ski tracks. During the winter we rent our machines to local clubs, and throughout the Easter holiday we groom tracks from Oscarshaug on the west side of the mountain pass to the eastside in Bøvertun.
The aim is to provide the best possible conditions for skiing in the district, in beautiful scenery, and at the same time lay the grounds for activity and values in the local environment.
You may purchase day tickets and half-day tickets at the Sognefjellet Mountain Lodge. Information through the season you may find on Facebook (Sognefjellet sommerskisenter)
